Alleged Over N300 Million Fraud, Job Racketeering: Group Petitions EFCC, Demands Probe Of Prof. Faruk Rashid Haruna.



The Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Justice (PAPS), a pro-democracy group has requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate PROFESOR FARUK RASHID HARUNA   PROVOST FCE KONTAGORA, over alleged mismanagement of over N300million‎.

In its petition, the Abuja-based pro-democracy group drew attention of the EFCC to some of the blatant misdeeds of Professor Rashid and called for thorough investigation.

"Massive Recruitment Fraud,
Corrupt practices, Divertion of over 300 Million naira".

"The Provost involved in Corruption, ‘the abuse of entrusted power for private gain,’ corrupt 
and fraudulent practices. 

"corruption and fraud in FCE Kontagora are therefore varied and complex, ranging from plagiarism and fraud to embezzlement of funds, 
nepotism and favouritism in student admissions and staff appointments,
diversion of university research funds, and procurement fraud".

The provost accused of giving jobs to over 100 people.

"Investigation of fraudulent recruitment by federal college of education Kontagora, uncovered, among other things, how the provost allegedly recruited over 100 without following due process".

The provost Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna allegedly personalised the recruitment carried out. 

In a petition written by the group, made available to newsmen indicated that EFCC will soon commenced an investigation into alleged fraud in the FCE Kontagora. 

accused of defrauding the agency with illegal award of contracts to family members and close allies.

The petitioners expressed concerns over the alleged nepotism and inducement that characterised the recruitment of job seeker during the period.

"We want EFCC and ICPC, to ascertain Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna for allegedly diverting funds worth over Three Hundred million naira meant for the FCE Kontagora"

currently enmeshed in financial fraud and job racketeering running into millions of naira.

Accused the FCE Kontagora Provost of defrauding the institution with illegal award of contracts to family members and close allies.

The source added that  styled administration’ has drained the finances of the institution without any significant project to match the millions of naira allocated to it annually, and set it on an imminent path of failure.

“Most staff are not happy over his activities and are ready to support with more information about him not minding if they lose their jobs in the process.”

Speaking to newsmen, Convener of the group, Comrade Isaac Ishaku accused the FCE provost of arm-twisting and muscling institution staffers to submission by instilling undue fears into their minds.

“We maitain that it is preposterous for the education sector to be controlled by evil people in the society as they don’t care for the numerous lives their perverted nature affects negatively,” Ishaku said.

“The situation if left to fester will encourage crime in our society. A situation where a corrupt person like Prof. Faruk Rashid is allowed at the helm of affairs of such a vital office without a proper judicial inquiry is utterly disheartening and does not project Nigeria and our education system in good light.
