Nigeria Former Senator Shehu Sani Reacts To Creation Of New States In Nigeria.


Former senator Shehu Sani has reacted to news of proposed creation of 20 new states in Nigeria. The former senator representing Kaduna central in Nigeria's upper legislative chamber aired his opinion via his Twitter handle.

According to Shehu Sani, the struggle to get more states is a tool to get more access to federal allocation derived from the oil revenues. He also describes it as a new way for the political elites to get new areas for political control.

He wrote:

"The quest for more states in most cases is quest for access to federal allocation derived from oil revenues; Also, the political elites want to cave out some new areas for political control."

Many people are of the opinion that more states needs to be created in Nigeria. Some regions feels that they deserve the right to get more states carved out from their regions.
